Guide to Fabrics
The following is a guide to some of fabrics you'll find in our collections and suggestions for using them:
1. Voiles and sheers
These are lightweight, almost wispy fabrics, made of 100% polyester or polyester blends. They come in solid colors, tone-on-tone embroideries or patterns. Use them as sunbursts for perfect arches, as curtains under layers, as top treatments, or as bed canopies.
2. Silk
Silk is one of the luxury fabrics. It can be soft and smooth or heavier and textured. Silk dyes beautifully and comes in a range of breathtaking colors, from pale neutrals to vivid jewel tones. Silk makes elegant panels, beautiful top treatment, and wonderful decorative pillows.
3. Velvet and chenille
Lush, plush and sumptuous, velvet and chenille feel wonderful and look rich and elegant. Consider velvet and chenille for top treatments and panels, comforter, duvet covers and decorative pillows.
4. Cotton and cotton blends
Cotton is wonderfully versatile. It can range from a heavy canvas or denim to a light and frothy eyelet. Cottons come in solid colors, stripes, florals and other distinctive patterns. Cotton is often blended with polyester for strength or linen for texture. Cotton fabrics are ideal for table linens, because you can wash them. Also use cotton as comforter and duvet covers, dust ruffles, casual top treatments and decorative pillows.
5. Linen
Linen is beautiful and elegant and can be light or heavy, depending on the weave. Linen comes in a beautiful range of colors, but it is perhaps best-loved as crisp white or soft neutrals, such as khaki. Printed linen is a refreshing look. Alone or woven with cotton, linen has a unique texture. Linen is effective used as panels, as comforter and duvet covers or as decorative pillows.
