Decorative Preferences
To avoid a thrown-together look, design your window and bed treatment using products that coordinate each other and the surroundings. Use your imagination to incorporate them into designs that will infuse your home with drama, flair and a strong sense of character.
1. Variations on a theme
First understand the look you want and then design with that in mind. Whether it's romantic English country, retro modern or urban sophistication, keeping within your theme makes it easy to choose what goes in a room.
2. Color coordinated
Color is the first thing you notice in a room, and choosing which color or colors to use is usually the first consideration when you design a space. Sometimes you want your room's colors to complement each other, and other times you may want to go for contrast. Complementary colors create harmony while bold opposites create excitement. Black and white are obvious opposites. White and yellow are cheery and compatible. Ivory, sand and taupe are complementary naturals. Link your window and bed treatment to the wall and floor by coordinating their color to the fabric.
3. Combining patterns
With our many patterned fabrics, trim and hardware materials, there are infinite ways to combine them effectively. With fabrics, it's easiest to choose a single color to link two or more patterns. If you decide to incorporate stripes with floral fabrics, just make sure there's at least one common color to tie the opposites together.
4. Playing with textures
Interesting textures can be found in our entire products. Fabulous chenille fabric. Dazzling crystal trim. Sleek metal hardware. From window treatments to bedding ensembles, texture shows up everywhere. Combining textures creates a look that is compelling. There are no hard-and-fast rules, and ultimately, your eyes will tell you what's pleasing.
5. Mix and match
The world of window and bed treatment is filled with abundant inspirations. Rich fabrics. Lush of trims. Shimmering hardware. Color and more color. Pattern and more pattern. Texture and more texture. Keeping it simple is always an acceptable option, but with such exciting diversity, it's wonderful to mix up colors, patterns and textures and the results can be spectacular.
